World of Warcraft: Forever
Blizzard MMORPG that returns to the original Azeroth with new zones, new quests, dungeons and raids. It's included with a World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time, on Windows and macOS, and the level cap stays at 60.
Builds and roles
First character (Beginner)
Priorities: A class you enjoy, Faction picked with your friends, Realm type
- The game has nine classes and Blizzard wants each one to be viable: pick the one you enjoy
- Decide with your friends: you can't group with the other faction or across realm types
- Take your time: Blizzard says rotations stay simple and complexity arrives gradually
The game has just launched: no best build is established yet, and balance may change.
Beast Mastery Hunter (Easy solo)
Priorities: Pet, Ranged attacks, Distance from enemies
- The pick most often recommended for starting out
- From level 10, your pet holds the enemy while you shoot
- Stay at range: that's what makes this class so safe
Based on guides published before launch: to be reviewed once players reach level 60.
Affliction Warlock (Solo)
Priorities: Demon, Drain spells, Life Tap spell
- Let your demon occupy the enemy while your spells do their work
- Recover health and mana with your drain spells and Life Tap so you stop less often
- Later on, you can summon your friends with Ritual of Summoning
Based on guides published before launch: to be reviewed once players reach level 60.
Frost Mage (Ranged damage)
Priorities: Crowd control, Frost spells, Conjured food and water
- Slow and root enemies: your mistakes will be easier to recover from
- Conjure your food and water to save gold
- Expect to drink often: mana runs out fast
Based on guides published before launch: to be reviewed once players reach level 60.
Versatile Paladin (Tank, healing or melee)
Priorities: Heavy armor, Healing, Defensive abilities
- A solid class to start with, thanks to its armor, healing and defensive abilities
- You can tank or heal in groups: handy with dual spec
- Your class mount comes from a quest
Based on guides published before launch: to be reviewed once players reach level 60.
Tanks and healers (Dungeons and raids)
Priorities: Protection Warrior, Holy Priest, Restoration Shaman
- Protection Warrior: expected to be the main raid tank, but it's a demanding class that depends heavily on gear
- Holy Priest and Restoration Shaman: the best-placed healers in the forecasts
- For leveling, a healer benefits from keeping a second spec
Based on guides published before launch: to be reviewed once players reach level 60.
Dual spec (Level 40)
Priorities: Dual spec, Talents, Gold in reserve
- At level 40, learn it from your class trainer: the price wasn't announced before launch
- Swap specs out of combat: it takes about 5 seconds
- Keep some gold: resetting your talents costs more each time
Handy for keeping one spec for leveling and another for groups.

- Get ready for raids, announced for December 9, 2026
Tips
- Access : No extra purchase is needed with a subscription or Game Time, except for the Skyborne race
- Skyborne : This new race comes with a separately sold pack, such as the Skyborne Heroic Pack, and starts on Zephras Isle
- Realms : There's one large realm per ruleset and region, so you don't have to hunt for your friends' realm
- Hardcore : This mode is planned for winter 2026-2027, according to Blizzard's roadmap
- Realm types : Normal, PvP, Roleplay and Roleplay-PvP are available at launch, and the choice can't change once the character is created
- Combinations : Undead can now be Paladins, and Dwarves can be Shamans
- Rest : You build up 5% of a level every 8 hours, up to one and a half levels: log out in an inn or a capital city
- Mount : Your first one comes at level 40: plan on at least 100 gold. Level 60 takes about 1,000 gold for the faster speed, and there are no flying mounts
- Finding a group : There's no automatic queue: the tool lists groups made by players and doesn't teleport anyone
- New dungeons : Hall of Thanes (13-18), Ruins of Lordaeron (15-20), Excavation Site (24-29), City of Dalaran (28-33), The Drowned City (35-40), Krol'dok Stronghold (40-45), Alcaz Prison (48-53), Blackmaw Hold (55-60) and Shaper's Terrace (58-60)
- Raids : Barrow Deeps (10 players), Hyjal Summit (20) and Onyxia's Lair (40) are announced for December 9, 2026
- Professions : Pick two main professions that work well together, or two gathering ones to make gold. Cooking, Fishing and First Aid come on top of those
- Legacy : This system gives your characters bonuses. The first point often comes at level 25, and leveling another class can earn more
- After dying : Run back to your corpse: the Spirit Healer damages your gear and weakens you for a while
- Updates : The game has just launched: check the patch notes, as details may change
